谭瑞 is a survivor. One of my favorite passages in this novel is the part where 谭瑞 breaks off her engagement with 辉生. I thought to myself, she is a rebel in her society and her time period - I like her. She had confidence in herself and was comfortable expressing her love for 辉生.From 清雅's description of 谭瑞's background, it is clear that she truly loves 辉生. She was raised in a family of wealth and influence, yet she was willing to risk her life and joined the communist party just so "我的爱人有共同的理想和追求." She knew what she wanted and fought for it, a admirable quality. The female characters in most bl (slash) novels I have read lacks personality. Female characters are normally weak (emotionally and intellectually). Woman, as it seems, takes upon the negative role as the barrier between two true loves in these books. 谭瑞 got away from this typical stereotype and became an independent character which all readers can appreciate and understand. Although 谭瑞 was not able to escape from her social obligations and her circumstance to achieve her dream, she became real and independent in my eyes. 清雅, you have done a fabulous job forming this female character! Please update! It't such a good novel (make 林 go aboard or something, i don't him to caught between the two Chinese parties and end up scarred by the war)
