in a way, i don't think she deserve to be his girlfriend in this chapter.
why?
when she is trying her best to make sure Hoytei wins, how can she not be able to understand the same, no, more passion that Tezuka has gave to Seigaku. 3 years, Tezuka has used 3 years to prepare, to achieve his promise, his dream.
how can she not understand!
i understand how she felt because i feel the same when i first watch this part in cartoon. but, because i watched this part, i question myself more, what's the drive of his action.
what makes prince of tennis so power, so great? my answer is people like Tezuka. in the action of competition, especially group competition, drive of union is the most powerful thing. for this purpose, Tezuaka has tried his best to increase the power, skill of his teammates. for the last part, he doesn't need to fight to the end, but only by doing this, the spirit of fighter shows. did you notice, when the ball didn't cross the net, the whole court was silent. even when atobe wins, he lost. that's what made him to train more, and what made him to stand up after over 100 tie breaks in the fight with Ryoma. a captain's responsibility, a fighter's spirit, pride and respect.
for quite sometime, i liked her quite a lot and i think this novel is quite good. but for this part, i pity her. it's just like the trainer said, she doesn't understand the meaning of real tennis. real tennis means holds to the end. if i were in her situation, i wouldn't do what she did. true, i will suffer more pain than anyone else, but at the same time, i will fell so proud, that i am in love with this man. what she did in a way only means she doesn't love him that much to understand him well enough.
there is a price to pay to achieve your dream. a lot people think Hoytei, Rikadai are aches for Seigaku to succeed. that's not true. did anyone notice that for each most competitions that they went through, isn't there someone brave enough in Seigaku to fight even with serious injuries? some of the injuries that no other team would go through! Ryoma's eye, Momo's leg, Kawamura's hands, Oishi's whist etc.courage, besides skill is the strongest power that Seigaku has. didn't anyone notice Hoytein failed for the 1st time is because they take their pride over seriousness. Rikadai failed because they underestimate the willpower of Seigaku team. that's why they met again in the national competition. for the 2nd chance, if both team are serious, will they be able to win? there are geniuses in this world, what explains Hoytei's 2nd lost is they woke up too late and Seigaku is too persistent. Did you notice that all Seigaku member would bet their health and future, sometimes even everything on winning one ball. i heard momo said this, so does Kawamura, Tezuaka, Oishi etc. the only person that didn't go that far was Fuji, who tasted the meaning of lost and regrets in the competition with Sibaosi. in a way, the comic write is fair. Seigaku's strong is because their willpower, their sacrifice, their persisitency, their love and passion, and more they courage and union than others. these are the exactly same quality that touched us, made us like them.
in this part,Tezuaka's spirit made his teammates would do anything to climb to his level, because he showed to them so early in the way. did you notice momo said this 'a man like this is our captain'. once in life if you met someone like Tezuka, you would stand by his side, because you would like to become him someday. that's why they got the Kanton Championship. i believe the reason for you to write this stroy is him, isn't it? people like him rarely exists, and if you see one by chance, you will be touched. similar situation can be found in Fudomine. Seigaku is a team of strange combination, but a warm and union one. i have always found Tezuka's word "don't let your guard down" quite funny.but only at these moments, i can see how he made his team grow strong. he loves tennis, and loves playing it. even without too much words, he got encouraged by his teammates, that's why he cannot give up the match even if the cost is great. that's how he is. you can already see it when he challenge Ryoma in episode 25. in a way, he is a hero, someone who is beyond normal people. as his girlfriend, i wish she could understand.
be truthful, i love all princes in this comic. Fudomine, Yamabuki, Hoytei, Rikadai etc. and most of them went to the national competition as well. but as it's a sport, there is only one winner. the most important thing is playing tennis, have fun and leave no regrets. the comic hasn't end yet. i wish all of them feel this.
out of hundreds of original novels of prince of tennis, yours is one of my favourite because it's similar my thoughts. the only disppointment is this part. i wish you can see what i am trying to say.
i am looking forward to see to the end.
