She is the one who wrote \"Hell-Heaven\", which was recommended by someone here
a couple of days ago.
I didn\'t buy her most famous book, \"Interpreter of Maladies\" yet, because I
do not deem it a priority given what I read about its contents.
As a female writer, of course she has some advantages in writing about
marriages and love, and from what was pasted here, she did a good job in it.
However, a great writer should not be restricted by her own life experience
and keep addictive to what nature endowed her with. Having chosen the topic of
marriage as the major theme (actually, the only theme) of her first book (and
actually all of her works by far), she has made a smart debut, however she
needs more guts for what she is not born compatible with to make herself a
real guru. Shakespeare was not always in love when he wrote.
Perhaps I demand too much from her: She is, after all, a young writer who has
enjoyed life carefreely after she was born (She was born in London, right? As
far as I know, most of the Indians who could emmigrate to England were from
rich families), and she surely is gifted in observing and describing life in
rich details.
