2、第 2 章

　　秦先生是我们的英语老师，我们平时叫他Mr.Qin，私下里也有学生叫他“秦仙人”。秦先生长着一张正正经经的国家领导人的脸，眉毛很浓，鼻梁架着一副上课才戴的老花眼镜，有着一个小肚子。总会看见他穿着条纹短袖，字正腔圆地说着英语。他喜欢规律，所以他的英语课也总是那么有规律。一个星期之中，早自修用于文章阅读或对话小测，第一节课是用来入门与科普，第二节是用来课文讲习，第三节是语法，第四节则是练习校对，而最后则是用来写作。至于每周末，则必有一张英语大报纸。他要求我们必须独立完成，周末回来则将答案涂在答题卡上，分数作为平时考核的指标之一。
　　对于他的严条苛律，自然班上会衍生出两类人。每当星期天的晚自修，你就可以看到几张报纸传来传去，或是答题卡递来递去，有些人气定若闲，而有些人急得像热锅上的蚂蚁的壮烈场面。这也混过去了不少日子。不过好景不长，秦先生便采用了一套更为严厉的手段。他对于单项选择不再将答案写在黑板上校对，而是开火车让每个学生说出自己的答案，并解释原因，然后他再说出正确答案。而对于完型和阅读，他则会出几个简单的细节题，以便检测你是否阅读过。很多学生在这种高压政策下，纷纷落马。后来，不写报纸的学生越来越少，即便不写的学生，也会努力提前做好功课。我想，这也是我们班英语水平较高的原因吧。
　　“Ye Ling，please read the first paragraph.”秦先生开始点人朗读。
　　我站起来，捧着课本流利地读道，“My name is Wang Kun. Ever since middle school, my sister Wang Wei and I have dreamed about taking a great bike trip. Two years ago she bought an expensive mountain bike and then she persuaded me to buy one. Last year, she visited our cousins, Dao Wei and Yu Hang at their college in Kunming. They are Dai and grew up in western Yunnan Province near the Lancang River, the Chinese part of the river that is called the Mekong River in other countries. Wang Wei soon got them interested in cycling too. After graduating from college, we finally got the chance to take a bike trip. I asked my sister, "Where are we going" It was my sister who first had the idea to cycle along the entire Mekong River from where it begins to where it ends. Now she is planning our schedule for the trip. ”
　　“Very good. Sit down, please. Now, I want Shen Rui to read the second one. ”
　　底下发出了一阵阵轻微的笑声。我转了过去，只见第一组第五排的一个男生站了起来，看起来非常自信地开始朗读：“I am fond of my sister but she has one serious shortcoming. She can be really……stubborn. Although she didn't know the best way of getting to places（变得缓慢地）, she insisted that ……she organize the trip properly. （砸吧了一下嘴，班里一阵笑声）Now…… I know that the proper way is always her way. I kept asking her, "When are we leaving and when are we coming back" I asked her（停顿了一小会儿，用语气词那个） whether she had looked at a map yet. Of course she hadn't; my sister doesn't care about details. So I told her that the ……source of the Mekong（变得缓慢地） is in Qinghai Province. She gave me a determined（越来越慢地） look - the kind that said she would not change her mind. （又砸吧了一下嘴，又说了句那个，又一阵笑声）When I told her that our journey would begin at an altitude of more than5,000 metres, she seemed to be excited about it. When I told her the air…… would be hard to breathe and it would be very cold, she said it would be an interesting experience. I know my sister well. Once she has made up her mind, nothing can change it. Finally, I had to give in. ”读罢，他终于如释重负地吐了一口气，俨然一副战场归来的模样。全程，他用他那极不标准又蹩脚的英语，磕磕绊绊地读完了第二段。
　　“沈睿，你昨天没有预习吗？”秦先生不满地责问道。
　　“老师，我预习过了，读了很多遍，还是读成这样。”沈睿解释道。
　　“算了，你坐下吧，下面请夏洁来读第三段。”
　　沈睿坐了下来，我转了回去，课堂也恢复了刚才的平静。
　　原来，这个男的叫沈睿。
