18、威胁 Pukia

　　Pukia：“I'm sorry we sorta ended on a bad note last time.（我很抱歉我们上次算是不太愉快地结束了谈话。）”

　　这是Pukia见到Vivian说的第一句话。

　　Vivian：“Oh, it's OK. That's fine.（哦，没关系的，这没什么。）”

　　Pukia:：“You worked here for a fair amount of time-（你在这里工作过一段时间 -）”

　　Vivian：“Yeah, that's what I've been thinking. Is that allowed?（对，我也在想，这是被允许的吗？）”

　　Pukia：“Well, I just think it's definitely something we can use to our advantage.（我只是觉得这完全可以是我们的优势。）”

　　Vivian：“It's your study.（反正是你们的实验。）”

　　她耸了耸肩。她不在乎。

　　Pukia：“Exactly, so no need to worry about that. As you know, one of our subjects withdrew. And I believe you still remember our last exchange——the one where your name was mentioned.（没错，所以你完全不用担心。如你所知，我们的一个参与者退出了这项研究。我想你还记得我们上个对话，你的名字出现的那个谈话。）”

　　Vivian：“The one that got me fired. Of course.（害我被除名的那个。当然。）”

　　Pukia：“Oh, come on. Haven't you realized yet? You were never fired. It's just a change of roles. You are a psychology student, you know what the study is about. You are cooperative, and you have a good story. You are the perfect candidate.（哦，别这样。你还没意识到吗？你从来就没有被真正解雇过。这只是一个角色的转变。你是心理学的学生，你知道这项研究是关于什么的。你很配合，你还有一个精彩的人生故事。你是最合适的人选。）”

　　“Cooperative?（配合的？）从哪看出来的？Vivian心想。

　　Vivian：“What do you mean that ‘I have a good story?’（你说‘我有一个好故事’是什么意思？）”

　　Pukia笑了一下，她倾身凑近Vivian的耳朵。

　　Pukia：“We know about your past.（我们知道你的过去。）”

　　她的声音很轻，呼出的气息吹到Vivian耳朵上令她感觉痒痒的，出了一身鸡皮疙瘩。

　　Vivian：“Is that a threat?（这是威胁吗？）”

　　Pukia：“Of course not. I just think it's definitely something we can use to our advantage.（当然不是。我只是觉得这完全可以是我们的优势。）”

　　她又重复了一遍之前的话，脸上露出天真的神情，冲Vivian友好地笑了笑。

　　原来这就是Pukia威胁人的样子，或者，应该说这就是上位者的姿态。
